Great for playing samba reggae, samba afro, and other rhythms from Bahia.  The shallower depth make them lighter and more comfortable to carry low with a waist strap. Also good for Rio-style playing and general bateria use.

14″ and 16″ are good for smaller players

16″ and 18″ are good for third (dobra)

20″ and 22″ can be used for second surdo (segundo)

22″ and 24″ can be used for first (primero/fundo)

A set of 18″-20″-22″ or 20″-22″-24″ is a common set of three surdos for samba reggae playing.

These models are sold with nylon heads on top and bottom. Napa heads are also available.
